Short-term exchanges of groups of pupils

The educational goal of the short-term exchange of pupils event in Slovenia was to promote a healthy lifestyle through proper diet and physical exercises among children. The performed activities aim to shape new healthy behaviors and develop habits and skills that will help children to take care of their own health.

On Monday, 11th November there was the official opening of the exchange of pupils event at 10 o’clock with the introductory session, introducing the officials and participants. The opening ceremony with cultural programme followed, featuring the school choir, accordion players and modern and folk dancers. Teachers attended a workshop about using e-Twinning Tools. The workshop was run by Tatjana Gulič, an eTwinning ambassador from the Slovene NA.  At the same time, pupils did a Kahoot quiz about healthy lifestyle. After lunch teachers and pupils had a cultural visit of Lipica, one of the world’s oldest stud farms. Later, Marjeta Šibelja, a qualified nutrition counsellor, held a lecture and workshop about sugar entitled Sugar, the Bitter Truth. The Turkish team arrived in Slovenia at 19.15 and joined LTT on the next day.
On Tuesday, 12th November 2019, pupils from participating countries joined Slovenian pupils and attended science workshops entitled Measurement. It dealt with different kinds of measurement, such as length, density, time, chemical measurement  and speed. In the meantime, teachers from each country gave a presentation of  health education in his/her country. The participating teachers had a meeting and talked about the Mobility Tool and  the Twin Space Section. Secondly, we checked the schedule for September, October and November and we highlighted the proofs of monthly activities that should be added on media platforms (Facebook, eTwinning blogs). Later pupils and teachers attended a beekeeping and stretching workshop. After lunch there was a trip to the Postojna Cave, the only cave in the world with a tourist train inside and with the Proteus, of the most unique creatures on the planet.
On Wednesday, 13th November 2019, the participants did a cultural trip to Bled and Ljubljana. Lake Bled is a symbol of Slovenia’s beauty. Teachers and pupils visited the castle towering over the lake on a cliff and tasted the typical Bled cream cake. In the afternoon they visited Ljubljana, the city centre with the Ljubljana Market, Prešeren and Congress Square, the Triple Bridges, the Butcher’s Bridge and the Illusions Museum.
On Thursday, 14th November 2019, pupils and teachers attended "Fast fingers" handicraft workshop. They did some clay crafts, painting, pastry baking, robotics, jam making, paper crafts,  modelling crafts and wire crafts. On Thursday we discussed some organisational issues and established responsibilities within the Erasmus team for each country. Eventually activities schedule that will be carried out until the LTTA (The Way to a healthy Lifestyle) in Greece from 6th to 10th April was established. After lunch teachers and pupils went to a cultural trip to Štanjel and Pliskovica. Štanjel is a typical Karst village with a characteristic Karst architecture. In Pliskovica, another typical Karst village, they attended a stone-cutting workshop.
On Friday, 15th November 2019, teachers and pupils attended the Traditional Slovene Breakfast with their Slovenian peers. Later all visitors had a meeting with the Mayor of Sežana and local government education representatives at the Sežana municipality building. Afterwards they visited the botanical garden. At their return to school they did a research on traditional recipes of their countries. Afterwards the two workshops that were performed on Tuesday were swapped: Group B attended a workshop about beekeeping and healthy cooking, whereas group A had a session of stretching. Participating teachers had an LTTA evaluation session.
This training event has given us the opportunity to live a wonderful and learning experience which has created a bridge among Slovenian pupils and the pupils from the participating countries different cultures and besides this, it has conveyed not only a healthy lifestyle, but also the importance to know the English and to improve it.
